Any Legend of Zelda game is great, but this recommendation is specifically for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. These are open-world adventures where you explore a vast kingdom entirely at your own pace, solving shrines and uncovering secrets. It's an experience driven by curiosity and exploration, with no single required path through a beautiful fantasy world.
I started by watching as my son played console games. Those were mainly RPGs. I liked the story and trying to follow it a bit. That was Zelda — I don't know exactly which Zeldas I've all played since, all sorts. I just like it. And Mario too; it started with Mario on the first Nintendo.
